Prayer Book for Special Occasions B'. From the respected and beloved Father Dionysios Tabakis we received the second and final volume of the Prayer Book for Special Occasions. Having personal experience as a spiritual person and, at the same time, drawing from the words of the Tradition of Saint Arsenios of Cappadocia and the other Fathers of our Church, Father Dionysios compiled the second volume of prayerful manual, which helped us so much and we loved it so much.
With paternal distinction, he lists wishes for each specific occasion, referring to biblical and hymnographic texts.
The loving detail of the prayers moves the reader and reveals to him once again the infinite love and mercy of our Lord – we list indicatively from the contents of the Prayer Book II: Unrighteous (so that God may discipline them, so that they do not torment others),
Repentance (so that we may come to realize our passions and defects and repent by confessing), Psychosomatic Beauty (so that God may grant us psychosomatic grace and beauty and, far from all complacency, we may glorify Him), Homeland (so that God may protect it and grant us national repentance),
Relatives and companions of those suffering from mental illnesses, dementia, depression, etc. (so that God may support and strengthen them), Light (so that God may open the eyes of our hearts and we may see with the Light of His Love).
Father Dionysios Tabakis himself writes in his prologue to the second volume of the Prayer Book: "Following the respectful acceptance and appreciation that the Prayer Book for Special Circumstances A' received and the tens of thousands of copies of the book, which were sold out by the people's love for praying according to the typicon of Saint Arsenios, which this book follows, we are joyfully proceeding with the publication of its second part with prayer topics for contemporary and essential problems and difficulties that confront us daily."
Father Dionysios Tabakis, of Asia Minor and Cretan origin, was born in 1972 in Piraeus and grew up in the refugee village of Palaia Kokkinia. He is a married priest, married to the elder Fotini Katsouki, and they have three children. He serves as the parish priest at Panagitsa (Genesis of the Virgin Mary) in Palaia Nafplio.
